So today I met Misha Collins, ladies and gentleman.
He was just as bit as clever and quick witted as he seems, but (perhaps surprisingly), one of the most lovely guests I have ever met at a convention. In the evening, when I was getting this signed, my mouth decided to say something before my brain did, and I ended up telling Misha about my depression, and my attempted and close calls with suicide. I told him what a difference he had made, how he- and the other members of the Supernatural cast- inspired me and continues to inspire me to keep fighting back against the depression. He took my hand in both of his, stared me straight in the eye and simply told me how glad he was that I hadn’t gone through, and how loved I really was…and it’s funny. I’ve heard it from a thousand other people- close friends and family- and yet, hearing it from a near-stranger; someone that didn’t know me at all…it sort of all clicked in my head this evening. He wished me strength and good luck, laughed as I tried to make some lame joke and wipe away my tears (did I mention that despite my internal monologue of ‘Don’t cry don’t cry don’t cry’, I started to almost sob? Whoops.) and squeezed my hand. I just. Thank you so much, Misha.
I just feel so honoured to meet one of my stars, and you’ve given me fresh hope when I really needed it. I can’t thank you enough. -
